Week 3
There is this
morphing video of a monkey turning into a man and then an orange. This has inspired me to do something that could not only symbolise mans transformation in resources but maybe be mans transformation in evolution itself. It would involve a monkey, a human and a robot. I would have to look into how much I want to animate this illusion as the more different images I have, the longer it will take to start producing the package. I have decided on going with the rotating CD method as it will be more diverse and original. It also means i only need a section of the package to be covered in black bars on transparent paper since the rest of the images that are not in parallel will be out of place and ineffective.

After researching these type of illusions, I came across an artist called
Rufus Butler Seder who seems to be the creator and calls it 'scanimation'. He has made books and greeting cards with this effect and continues to use his invention for entertainment purposes. One of my more favourite scanimation books would be his
Star Wars one that includes popular scenes from the movies and tells a bit about each one. I would want to consider trying to tell meaning out of my images and see if they can work in unison with each other.
