We have been given a new program and a new project. It is definitely the biggest one so far production wise. It is also the last one before the end of semester and it has become clear which students have what skills and motivation that are useful for a successful team. The Solidworks program is a very adaptable tool and will help in visualising for my project what is needed to create our equipment, it has not been the easiest one for me to learn in the two days of teaching but is something that will become a good skill to pickup for any future projects as well.
Changing what the camera focuses on
For my team I was fortunate to be placed with as a fabricator. This gives me an opportune time to enhance (or start) my welding and metal skills. I know a little from my mechanical engineering class a few years ago but nothing more than demonstrations. No one else from my team has had any welding experience either so this will be new territory for all of us. We will get the chance to learn and practice on welding a few days before we start to create the equipment.
Making clear ice cubes
My group have begun coming up with some ideas onto what equipment we want to create, we did this by getting a better picture and understanding into what is not seen by going into the city center square and looking around at possible choices and outcomes. Out of these ideas, we found that a big focus was singling out a specific feature using the camera and somehow displaying a result as physical evidence from that specific feature. From here, there was a big concept of using infrared to display heat signatures and then output it to an ice cube or ice lens that was melting from an element that is controlled using a program. This program will control the element by how much heat was being displayed on the infrared camera.

The problem with this was that we still needed to create equipment to carry around the ice, camera, element and laptop. With in mind of this relating to ice as well as projecting energy and heat from the environment into the ice we thought an ice cream trolley would work because of the physical labour of moving the trolley around and the contents inside the trolley to be considered cold and emotionless.
